As some of you may know, this past month I created my very own fitness program called Fit Is Getting Real: LEAN (for more about my whole “FIGR” thing, check out this blog post).
I created FIGR: LEAN with both men and women in mind as a program to help you shed weight and gain lean muscle to get you that overall fit and healthy look you’ve always been going for. Plus all you need are dumbbells and cardio equipment so its doable for pretty much anyone.
I plan to launch the entire program later this month so that people can use it to hit the ground running on January 1st – which by the way is a Monday this year. Double score.
But before I make it available to the public, I wanted to ensure that the program was the best it could be. I needed to make sure the format was understandable, that people would enjoy it, and that it would actually work. So I created a test group to help me out with all of these factors. We are currently 28 strong (I was only planning on 10-15 so even the test group has surpassed my expectations), and it is made up of all different kinds of people. College students, moms, working professionals, ex-college athletes, beginners, guys, girls, cross fitters, you name it.
So far the program has been working like…. better than I ever imagined. And it’s only been a week.
Instead of me just telling you how its been going, I decided to share quotes from some of my test groupers!
How they’re doing in general:
“I feel better and have had more energy. I don’t know if I have ever worked out 5 days in a row before!” – Sam
“I am already seeing some slimming in my waist and better energy throughout the day” – Amanda
“I enjoyed this first week. I am down about 4 and a half pounds…for the first time in a while I’m feeling a lot more positive about life in general” – Rue
Food Log: Part of the program is simply filling in a food log I created to track your food and drink intake. This is meant to help you become more aware of what you’re eating and helps you make healthier choices and eat less overall. Here’s what they said about this approach:
“Through writing everything down I’ve become so much more aware of what I’m actually eating” – Kaleigh
“I feel WAY more energetic throughout the day. And naturally I’m starting to watch what I eat more” – Kara
“If you want to change your eating habits its a good way to be honest with yourself and to see what needs to go!” – Shelly
“I think they are great because it makes you accountable and aware of what you’re consuming daily” – Maddie
And in terms of the workouts:
“I am just so mentally exhausted at this point with school but working out consistently has given me a lot more energy” – Kaleigh
“I never thought I would enjoy weights again. But I’ve enjoyed the use of dumbbells” – Rue
“I did the interval cardio on the treadmill on Tuesday and I actually enjoyed it, which is huge for me because I hate running” – Kaleigh
“My legs never get sore no matter what I do but damn it’s only day 3 and I’m walking like a baby deer. But I love the soreness, it’s brilliant… I underestimated dumbbell work but the high reps are killer. I’m hooked” – Lauren
As for me, I’m down 2.8 pounds and feel amazing! Which is crazy because the workouts in this program are very similar to the ones I have been doing for years on a regular basis. It just goes to show how important having a set plan, an accountability group and specific, written down goals are to actually achieving what you want.
Another component that I’ve found extremely helpful is the fact that the program is an actual booklet. Having something to physically write on, check things off, record your food, and write down notes on is HUGE. I always got frustrated that online workout programs lacked this kind of accountability so I set off to do things a little differently. And it’s definitely been paying off so far!
SO EXCITED about all the progress so far, and looking forward to next week as the test groupers and I take on a week of brand new exercises!
PS: If you are interested in trying out the program when it gets released, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can personally notify you when its available for sale! I will only be printing a limited number of copies at first so MAKE SURE you secure a spot!:)
